Tompkins Square Dog Run

Alphabet City • NYC

Welcome to Tompkins Square Dog Run. We are New York City's first and largest dog run located in NYC's Tompkins Square Park. We use this site to share ideas, offer suggestions, coordinate clean-ups and talk about our dogs.

First Snow and Reindeer On The Way

A heavy snow started to fall in New York City and the region around 10 a.m. on Friday, just a day before the official start of winter.

500 flights were cancelled, the transit authority cut service on the No. 4 line, alternate side parking suspended, however the dogs were thoroughly enjoying the snow.

Rosa had her camera.

Time to give thanks to all the volunteers who help maintain the run

Every few weeks, volunteers gather for "Clean-Up Mornings" to help maintain the run, discuss ideas, and tighten up fixtures while the dogs carry on as usual.

It's also time to give thanks to New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, our Park Commissioners and District Manager Mike, the staff at Tompkins (especially Harry, Amy, Michael, Evelyn, Trevor & Shirley) as well the folks at Partnership for Parks, Adopt-A-Parks and Capital Projects who made our newly restored run a reality and daily orchestrate nothing short of a renaissance of our entire park system. Thanks.
